Because he was born King, Meruem believed that he was superior to all beings and thus treated everyone else as lesser beings. It pays off in the end but I can see why some might think it tiresome to have to sit through so much just to get to the real action. It’s got some minor issues, but they’re not nearly bad enough to ruin the arc as a whole. We’ve seen Gon at some of his best times - getting his Hunter’s license, reuniting Killua, finally being able to punch Hisoka in the face, winning Greed Island - and now we get to see him lower than we’ve ever seen him go before. This arc was wonderfully done and a fantastic watch. Gon and Killua are the focus of the arc as they go to Heaven's Arena and learn how to use Nen from Wing, a former student of Biscuit Krueger. We are in a weird setting totally isolated from the rest of the outside world, even GI had parts where they go back/interact with the outside world. Netero does all that bad ass shit, blows himself up leaving Meruem a charred corpse and he just get's brought back even stronger as if he wasn't already a Demi-god now he is Full on Godlike.
